The SPLASHplus unit, designed by our Newlyme division, is a data acquisition device with a difference. Originally designed for marine vessels with in-transit cold treatment systems that no longer meet USDA or PPECB regulations*, the unit intercepts the USDA log from the existing logging system (eg Stalectronic 2000) and

  • stores it as backup and for any future use
  • archives it to CD (if you wish)
  • prints it out to (one or) two printers simultaneously with full buffering (so that a printer can be taken off-line, to change ink for example, without any loss of data on the printout)
  • and, optionally, emails the information out (requires the networking option and connection to an email system).

The unit is ideal for:

  • keeping a machine readable copy of all data sent to a printer
  • buffering print data to protect against printer failure
  • 'splitting' data sent to one printer so that it prints simultaneously on two (or optionally more) printers.

The basic installation is incredibly simple:

  • move data cable from existing printer into SPLASHplus unit
  • connect existing printer to the SPLASHplus using the cable provided
  • connect a second printer (if required) to the SPLASHplus unit using the cable provided
  • switch on the SPLASHplus.

The unit can also be used to add further temperature points to an existing system and include them in the existing log. However, please note that this cannot be done for systems requiring USDA approval as it alters the original (approved) log.

* Vessels that are equipped with two printers must make use of both printers to print the USDA temperature readings simultaneously.
Vessels that are equipped with only one printer for USDA temperature readings must provide some form of temperature data backup.
