Sigmapi Systems' design engineers have a variety of different engineering backgrounds and a wealth of experience. They are used to working in difficult environments, measuring many different quantities and collating them to provide the realisation or control that this demanding industry requires.

Fully automated, operator-free test rigs running 24x7 are a case in point. Purpose built to your exact requirements, our engineers work with your engineers to design and produce rigs which can simulate years of hard use of particular components or sub-systems gaining valuable development data or for testing individual units from the production line. All data is logged for later analysis and automatic test reports are generated, printed, and stored for quality assurance audit trails. If a particular failure means that to continue the test would be dangerous, then the test is stopped in a controlled manner and a full report produced. If the system is being used with no operator present then alarms can be triggered and messages can be sent or automated phone calls made to inform the necessary personnel.
Another example is our weld monitoring system, WeldWatch: a product with very definite benefits that include:
  • a dramatic reduction in the amount of material wastage
  • increased weld quality
  • the ability to isolate problems with the welding machine
  • the storage of monitored data so that any weld defects occurring years later can be retrospectively analysed
According to Andrew Beer (Welding Engineer, GKN Wheels), "due to the high capture rates, it has been possible to diagnose equipment faults prior to complete failure as well as detect weld procedure faults not visible to the naked eye".

Of increasing interest is friction stir welding. Sigmapi Systems has a low-cost friction stir weld head which can be used with existing milling machines. This head wirelessly transmits its monitoring data to a receiving station so that it can be viewed graphically while the weld takes place, and also stored for future study, comparison, and analysis.

So whatever your monitoring or control problems or requirements are, why not give us a ring and talk to our engineers - you may be pleasantly surprised what can be achieved.
